Sydney Closure 15/09/06

Ben ShortWe made the decision to close Sydney because of global demand for the Simon Boards label; concentrating our efforts solely thru our Burleigh (QLD) facilities will ensure a reasonable turn around time domestically while the heat is on supplying the new market push in the US, and the continued interest in Japan and Europe.

We have developed state of the art glassing in our new Burleigh factory.

A new sanded shiny finish co-ordinated by Scotty (glassing manager) and Hubbsy and George (super sanders) to achieve a unique look, harder edges where you need it and consistant quality with good strength weight ratio.

We are also working with the latest state of the art pre shaping machine the results are accurate and a better representation of my shapes and designs.

BASE Sydney will be closed from 15 September, 2006, Sydney-siders can order through their nearest Base Authorised Dealer Surf Shop or order directly through Base Retail Stores.

New Simon Boards - QUADS

The world's gone 4 fin (Quad) mad...the simple theory that I'm working to is basically combine thruster and twin concepts. I'm keeping the forward fins the same size as thruster side fins, the back fins are smaller - along with the foil - this is the key to making it work.

Stay tuned for more info...

When I arrived at 9am Friday 16 March the surf was pumping, a solid 6-8 feet steaming through the outside Merewether reef. Primarily I was there to drop off boards for some of the competitors specifically Jay Bottle Thompson. Bottle impressed me when I first meet him on the Gold Coast earlier in the year...
